Relationships can be...
Navigating relationships can often feel like walking through a maze; it’s complex, challenging, and sometimes downright confusing. Whether they’re romantic, familial, or platonic, every relationship has its set of hurdles that can make sustaining them feel daunting.
Miscommunications lead to misunderstandings, differences in values or goals may create friction, and personal insecurities can further complicate interactions. It’s easy to become disheartened when faced with these obstacles, leading many to wonder if the effort is worth the reward. However, understanding that difficulties are part of the relational landscape helps normalize these experiences as opportunities for growth rather than insurmountable barriers.
Fortunately, by equipping ourselves with the right tools and techniques, it’s entirely possible to navigate this complexity and build fulfilling relationships. Effective communication stands at the forefront of these tools—learning how to express needs clearly and listen empathetically can transform interactions.
Additionally, setting healthy boundaries ensures mutual respect and understanding between parties. Emotional intelligence plays a crucial role too; being aware of our emotions and those of others allows us to respond rather than react during tense situations.
With commitment to these practices and patience with oneself and others, anyone can cultivate deeper connections that are both rewarding and enriching. Relationships might be hard work but embracing vulnerability while armed with resilience paves the way towards building the meaningful bonds we all seek—and deserve.

What clients are saying!!!
Now, I have a solid framework to date with an eye on marriage! Before this I was unintentional and without direction, wondering why none of my relationships led to lasting love and meaningful connection. I never thought of dating and marriage as the responsibility to take care of someone’s heart. Now, I’m ready to pursue love with the right intentions.
My girlfriend came from a coaching session completely different person, setting realistic expectations for us and listening to me with her head and heart. Now, I know she is ready for marriage as she is now showing the willingness to build our happily ever after with our flaws and all. Apparently, Dr. Loretta Shields plays no games when it comes to preparing people for relationships.
I realized that I never considered where he was emotionally before interacting him. Now I am able to wisely approach him with conversations at the right time when he is most receptive. This creates deeper, more meaningful conversations, a deeper trust, and a respect for space and boundaries. Now, it’s less about what I need from him and more about being love to him.
Since I now understand personality styles, I get that he is wired a certain way, and it’s not a personal attack. So, now I’ve learned to flex in my personality to meet him where he is. The willingness to flex in our personalities have made us solid, more understanding towards each other, and has strengthened our love for each other. Dr. Loretta challenged us to grow, and now we are living our happily ever after.
Dr. Loretta presented a workshop for our church group that addressed healthy habits for healthy families. She outlined family structures, how past family patterns affect current family patterns, parenting styles, and how understanding personality styles and emotional intelligence can build healthier and stronger families. She even facilitated live coaching exercises and family goal planning so that families could walk away with more than just head knowledge but a tangible way to build, nurture, and heal our families.
Dr. Loretta helped me to open up about my family’s relationship with finances and our relationship with each other. First, she allowed me to vent to release the frustration and then guided me in creating and implementing boundaries with my family members that made sense for the relationship I wanted to have with them. I felt very relieved talking about finances and family with someone who did not judge me but who was empathetic, extremely wise, honest, and who expanded my thinking about social norms and expectations. She is truly personable but professional.
Relationship with loss is not something that many relationship coaches address. After losing my mother, Dr. Loretta took me by the hand, listened with her head and heart, validated my emotions, opened my eyes to what a healthy grief journey looks like, and walked out my grief with me, one-on-one.
Dr. Loretta helped me with the toxic romantic relationship. She first addressed my mindset about relationships and then addressed my thoughts about my worth. I felt challenged but valued and validated. She always asked the right questions to get me to consider multiple viewpoints and solutions for my unique relationship situation. She challenged me to see myself, the other person, and the relationship through various lens. She assisted me in finding steps toward my personal relationship goal using an inside out approach. I was changed forever. Ther is nothing is superficial about how she approaches relationships.
